Future MacBook May Include Biosensor For Health Monitoring

If you are not interested in Apple Watch but still want health detection, the future MacBook may help you on that part. Apple's latest patent application discloses an integrated sensor for the laptop's holder, allowing users to perform health checks while typing on the keyboard. Even though this biosensor can be applied to various types of devices, Apple's focus is mainly on the MacBook's keyboard, as it shows below.

When the user begins to type, the wrist is naturally placed on the palm rest. At this time, the health check can be carried out, which is very convenient. It can detect users' multiple states, which could include breathing, blood pressure or heart rate, and more. Similar to the features on Apple Watch.

Apple said, "...In some embodiments, the bio-sensor is configured to produce a light emission that is transmitted through the micro-perforations defined in the opaque layer. In an example mode of operation, the bio-sensor may be used to determine a health metric or a physiological condition by detecting the light that is reflected off the body part of a user (e.g., the palm of a user's hand). In another example mode of operation, the bio-sensor may be used to detect a proximity of the user's hand with respect to the device. In response to the user's hand being detected as proximate to the bio-sensor, the device may be configured to change operation of the bio-sensor, alter the operational state of the device, or perform some other function. "

Furthermore, Apple even hopes that the sensor can detect the presence of the user, then automatically light the keyboard or not let the device go to sleep. However, keep in mind though, it is only a patent application, so it not may never reach into consumers' hand.
