Apple has announced that Jony Ive will leave the company, which has always been regarded the chief designer of the multiple products from Apple. However, according to the report from Bloomberg, Ive began relinquishing his responsibilities at Apple four years ago just after the original release of Apple Watch.
Upon Jony Ive's departure, the design team leaders Evans Hankey and Alan Dye, VP of Industrial Design and Human Interface design, respectively, will now report to the Chief Operating Officer of Apple, Jeff Williams. Noted that Apple has named Sabih Khan to the executive team as a senior vice president of operations, oversees Apple's global supply chain, who will also report to Williams.
Bloomberg said that Ive only goes to Apple Park a few times a week. In 2015, Apple announced the appointment of Ive as Chief Design Officer and promoted Richard Howarth and Alan Dye as Vice Presidents. It was then that Ive began to gradually reduce his involvement at Apple.
In 2017, Jony Ive appeared to be accountable for day-to-day leadership, and Howarth and Dye also vanished from the Apple executive website. But this isn't the true scenario, according to Bloomberg.
