Perhaps the most anticipated update of this year's iPhones—camera, saw a significant update, with both the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are upgraded to the triple-lens rear camera system, which enabled a set of new features such as Deep Fusion (combines 9 images using a neural network analysis on every single pixel), Night Mode, and the ability to shoot with multiple cameras (rear and front-facing camera) at the same time through the upcoming Filmic Pro app. The front-facing camera now features a 12MP sensor, and you can take slo-mo videos for the first time. Here is what Apple has to say about the new camera features:
With the tight integration between hardware and software, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max take the traditional camera experience even further in a way only Apple can. The all-new Ultra Wide camera fundamentally changes the camera experience by capturing four times more scene, great for taking landscape or architecture photos, tight shots and more. The new Wide sensor with 100 percent Focus Pixels and advanced software enables Night mode, and delivers huge improvements to photos shot in indoor and outdoor low-light environments, resulting in brighter images with natural colors and reduced noise.
Spec-wise, all three new iPhones are powered by the A13 Bionic chip, which Apple says is the fastest CPU and GPU ever in a smartphone. The chip also gets a new matrix multiplication feature, suitable for machine learning tasks, with Apple claims it as ‘the best machine learning platform in any smartphone’, as it's capable of performing over 1 trillion operations per second. There is also a new U1 chip for spatial awareness, and a superfast Face ID unlocks—speed up to 30% faster than the previous one.
