Kuo: $399 Priced iPhone SE 2 To Launch In Q1 2020 W/ A13 Chip And 3GB RAM

Rumors about the iPhone SE 2 have always been "evergreen," with some saying that it could have a sillmar form-factor like the current SE models while others state that it ends up looking like the mini version of the iPhone XS. Latest reports say that Apple will launch this iPhone model in early 2020, but it may not be as small as you thought.

According to the latest research paper by reputable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the positioning of the iPhone SE2 will be close to the iPhone 8 currently on sale. It will continue to include a non-full screen with a glass back design, suggesting the final design will be close to the iPhone 8, instead of the long-rumored " iPhone XS Mini" form-factor.

Specifically, Kuo said that "iPhone SE2" will feature the same A13 Bionic chip as the iPhone 11 series; it will also ship with a 3GB LPDDR4X RAM + 64/128 GB storages, and standard colors: Space Gray, Silver, plus Red. Additionally, the 3D Touch module that was removed from the iPhone 11 lineup will not likely to be presented on the iPhone SE 2.

Kuo predicts that the iPhone SE2 will become the "popular upgrade option" for many iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S users. It's estimated that there are about 170-200 million customers who currently use the iPhone 6 and 6S series. However, since iOS 13 does not support the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, there are more urgent replacement requirements for those users. So with the powerful A13 chip within the iPhone SE 2, Apple will be able to promote its services to the customers, a win for both of them.

As for the pricing and release dates, Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple may launch the iPhone SE2 in the first quarter of next year, starting at $399, and is expected to sell over 30 million units in 2020.
