"Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth" to premier on Apple TV+


Apple announced today that Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning Meryl Streep will lead the award-winning talent lending their voices to the Apple original animated Earth Day short film, “Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth,” premiering April 17 exclusively on Apple TV+.


Based on the No. 1 New York Times Best Seller and 2017's No. 1 TIME Best Book of the Year from beloved artist, illustrator and writer Jeffers, this captivating animated film follows a precocious seven-year-old who, over the course of Earth Day, learns about the wonders of the planet from his parents — and from a mysterious exhibit at the aptly titled Museum of Everything.

Apple announces new docuseries “Dear…”, inspired by "Dear Apple" spots


Apple today announced "Dear ...," a new executive documentary series produced by Emmy and Peabody Award winner R.J. Cutler ("September Issue," Untitled Billie Eilish Documentary). "The series will be premiered globally this spring on Apple TV. The series is executive produced by Cutler alongside Todd Lubin, Jay Peterson, Jane Cha and Lyle Gamm. Matador Content and Cutler Productions will be in charge of producing the project for Apple.

Inspired by Apple's groundbreaking "Dear Apple" spots "Dear..." takes an innovative and immersive approach to the biographies of the most iconic figures in society today by using letters written by those whose lives have changed by their work. The 10-episode series will star internationally recognized personalities including Oprah Winfrey, Gloria Steinem, Spike Lee, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Yara Shahidi, Stevie Wonder, Aly Raisman, Misty Copeland, Big Bird and more.

Apple Acquires Nonfiction Film “Beastie Boys Story”


Apple on Wednesday announced that it has acquired “Beastie Boys Story,” a new nonfiction film from Grammy Award-winning Beastie Boys members Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz and Academy Award-winning director Spike Jonze. The documentary feature will premiere in Apple’s Spring 2020 lineup on Apple TV+.

Beastie Boys tell you an intimate, personal story of their band and 40 years of friendship in this live documentary experience directed by their longtime friend and collaborator, and their former grandfather, filmmaker Spike Jonze.

The film is produced by Grammy Award winner Jason Baum, Amanda Adelson, alongside director and writer Spike Jonze, and executive produced by Mike Diamond, Adam Horovitz, Dechen Wangdu-Yauch, John Silva, John Cutcliffe, Peter Smith, Thomas Benski, Dan Bowen, Sam Bridger, Michele Anthony, David Blackman and Ashley Newton.

Three new originals from Apple TV+ to premiere at 2020 SXSW Film Festival


Apple announced on January 15 that three new projects from Apple TV+ have been selected for special screenings at this year’s the SXSW Film Festival, including a series an original series from Emmy-winning creator Loren Bouchard a docuseries from award-winning producers Doug Pray and Matt Weaver, and "Beastie Boys Story," which we outlined above.

From Loren Bouchard, “Central Park” is an animated musical series that tells the story of how a family of caretakers, who live and work in Central Park, end up saving the park, and basically the world. Cast: Josh Gad, Leslie Odom Jr., Tituss Burgess, Kristen Bell, Stanley Tucci, Daveed Diggs and Kathryn Hahn.

From award-winning producers Doug Pray and Matt Weaver, "Home” is an inventive, new docuseries that offers viewers a never-before-seen look inside the world’s most innovative homes, and unveils the boundary-pushing imagination of the visionaries who dared to dream and build them.
