Report Claims iPhone 12 To Use Flat Edges, Smaller HomePod Plan For Release

Bloomberg reported today that Apple is finalizing redesign to its 2020 high-end iPhone, people familiar with the matter revealed that there will be four iPhones to support 5G.


According to the person familiar with the matter, at least two high-end devices will use a flatter stainless steel frame design instead of the existing curved design, and will use a flat screen instead of the existing slanted edge screen, which is more like the iPhone 5 overall design. The person familiar with the matter emphasized that the iPhone 12 lineups will undergo a major upgrade of the processor, with the focus on AIAR processing.

In addition, Apple has been developing a smaller and cheaper HomePod speaker, the more affordable HomePod will use a similar design to existing model. The new HomePod has been developed for several months but has encountered delays. Apple aims to release it in the second half of this year and the price of the new HomePod will be lower.

People familiar with the matter have said that certain iPhone 12 models are likely to be launched later in September due to the coronavirus pandemic. Apple has not informed the supplier of any significant delays, and its engineers are scheduled to fly to China in May to complete the relevant product design.

The source noted that this year's successor to the iPhone 11 Pro Max has a screen size of more than 6.5 inches, and Apple is even considering eliminating the notch at the top of the screen in the future.

Lastly, the report claims a new MacBook Pro, new Apple TV, new iMac and a new entry-level iPad are under development.
