Apple has acquired machine learning startup Inductiv, an artificial intelligence technology developed by the company that can be used to identify and correct errors in datasets, reports Bloomberg.
Inductiv's engineering team has joined Apple in recent weeks to participate in multiple projects including Siri, machine learning, and data science.
For this acquisition, Apple gave a customary statement that Apple "buys smaller technology companies from time to time and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans."
Inductiv was founded by several professors at Stanford University, the University of Waterloo, and the University of Wisconsin. Its technology uses artificial intelligence to automatically identify and correct errors in the data set. "Clean" datasets are very important for machine learning.
