Apple Again Predicted To Release Mini-LED Display Products In 2021

Research firm GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu inscribes today that Apple plans to release several high-end devices with Mini-LED Displays in 2021, including the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro in the first quarter, the new 16-inch MacBook Pro in the second quarter and a new 27-inch iMac in the second half of the year.

This timetable aligns with the previous predictions made by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo stated recently that Apple suppliers are preparing to begin mass production of related components in the fourth quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021. Mini-LED devices would be released next year.

Kuo said some months ago that Apple plans to release six mini-LED products by the end of 2021, including 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook models, 27-inch iMac Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 10.2-inch iPad, and 7.9-inch iPad mini. The analyst said mini-LED technology will result in thinner and lighter product design, while offering much of the same perks as the OLED screen used on the latest iPhone, together with enhanced contrast and dynamic range.

Apple is investing more than $300 million in a new factory in Taiwan, which is expected to produce mini-LED and micro-LED display components for future products.
