Apple Reportedly Ready To Ship New Apple TV: A12X Processor And 2X Storage

Leaker Jon Prosser tweeted today that Apple is ready to ship a new Apple TV 4K box.

The current Apple TV 4K uses an A10X processor, which is already powerful enough for 4K video streaming. However, Prosser said that the upcoming Apple TV will sport an A12X processor, same as the one found in the first-generation 11-inch iPad Pro and the third generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro from 2018.

Upgrading the processor from A10X to A12X would enable Apple TV to play more-demanding Apple Arcade Games, while also offer economies of scale for Apple.

Prosser also expects the new Apple TV to feature 64GB or 128GB of storage, this will benefit gamers who could take advantage of this space to download and store games.

Other than a speed bump and 2x storage are expected from the new Apple TV 4K, a leaked iOS 14 code suggests that there could be an updated remote control ship alongside it. There were also reports indicating that Apple may be adding parental controls to the Apple TV, which could mean that it will include a screen time feature.

Lastly, Prosser this week also said that Apple has a new iMac and AirPods ready to ship, although he did not offer any more information on these particular products.
