Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that Apple plans to launch a 24-inch iMac with a new design in the fourth quarter of 2020, according to a new research report he sent out to investors on Monday.

Aside from using a new design, Kuo believes that the iMac, along with a 13-inch MacBook Pro will sport Apple's custom ARM-based processor, Apple Silicon.

Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, during the online-only WWDC 2020 Keynote, said that the company plans to switch from Intel processors to its own silicon in its Mac computer lineup. Apple is expecting to release its first Mac powered by Apple Silicon by the end of 2020 and expects to wean its entire Mac lineup off of Intel processors within two years.

Meanwhile, Kuo predicts that Apple to refresh its existing Intel-based iMac in the third quarter of 2020 (July through September). Nevertheless, he didn't specify whether this model will feature a new design.

No hardware announcements took place at yesterday's WWDC keynote event.
