DigiTimes is out with a report today that Apple's ARM processor A14X will enter mass production in the fourth quarter of this year.

The first Apple Silicon Mac and next-generation iPad Pro will be equipped with the A14X processors. According to DigiTimes, TSMC is expected to use its 5nm EUV process to manufacture 5,000 to 6,000 wafers per month. Each wafer contains hundreds of A14X processors, which will be broken down into individual chips later in the manufacturing process.

It's stated that Apple will start using its own system-in-package (SIP) microprocessor technology, and companies such as TSMC and other manufacturers are preparing for the growing demand for this technology. In the meanwhile, TSMC is currently researching the 3-nanometer process, which may be used in the future Apple Silicon Mac models.

According to Bloomberg, Apple’s first batch of Mac processors will have 12 cores, including 8 high-performance cores and at least 4 energy-efficient cores. In the future, Mac processors with more than 12 cores will be explored. Apple is currently designing the second-generation Mac processor that is based on the A15 chip.
