Apple In Bidding War With HBO Over A New J.J. Abrams Sci-fi TV Drama

According to a report by Variety, Apple and HBO are embroiled in a bidding war for a new sci-fi drama television series penned by J.J. Abrams. The show is more likely to deal with a world’s battle against a monstrous, oppressive force.

J.J. Abrams has written a new sci-fi drama television series that is currently the subject of a bidding war between Apple and HBO, Variety has confirmed with sources.

Abrams, the writer of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" who he is working on the upcoming and as of yet untitled "Star Wars: Episode IX." In the past, Abrams has worked on shows that include "Lost," "Felicity," and "Alias."

In addition to handling the writing, Abrams would be also serve as an executive producer, alongside Ben Stephenson, the head of TV for Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, would also act as an executive producer, while Warner Bros. Television would produce the series.


Apple is also in the work for two other sci-fi series, including including a revival of 1985's Steven Spielberg sci-fi series "Amazing Stories" and an untitled space drama developed by Ronald D. Moore, known for "Battlestar Galactica." The company still remains sincere for its efforts into original content.
