By sending a specific character in the Indian language Telugu, a bug will appear that might cause apps supported by the text input apps on iPhones, iPads, and Macs to freeze up and become unresponsive, such as Messages, Safari, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, etc.

Apple has confirmed to iMore that the bug is not only fixed in current betas of iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS, it’ll also be made available to the current release versions of all the operating systems as well.

So, for example, though the bug is fixed in iOS 11.3 beta, Apple will push out an update to iOS 11.2.5, the current release version, to fix the problem as well. That’ll make sure everyone gets the fix as quickly as possible

When the character is sent in an iMessage, the Messages app will then refuse to function properly unless the offending character is removed by deleting the conversation with the person who sent it. Moreover, if the character is viewed via an iOS notification, it maybe cause the entire device to crash.
