Reports: 2018 iPhones To Have 20% Of Speed Improvements, 6.5-Inch Model Or Use 'iPhone Xs' Name

Bloomberg has published the latest report on the 2018 iPhones, in which confirms some of the rumors in regarding 2018 iPhone models, but also bring some new goodies. However, Macworld also shared their latest findings of the speed performances of the A12 processor.

First, Apple will release three new iPhones this year, the second-generation of iPhone X, the 6.5-inch iPhone, and the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone. In addition to the 6.1-inch iPhone using an LCD screen, both the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhones will be featured with an OLED display. The upcoming iPhones will mainly improve speed and camera performances.

The iPhone X 2 is like the S-level update to the iPhone X. design unchanged but it will be powered by the A12 chip. As for how the camera is improved, it wasn't detailed in the report. The 6.1-inch iPhone, on the other hand, will look like iPhone, but with only an LCD screen and an aluminum frame, the advantage is that the price will be much lower, and will come in a variety of colors.

Furthermore, Bloomberg says the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone may not use the name "Plus", and the exact name is not yet determined. As for the naming of the iPhones this year, it could be iPhone Xs, but again it is not finalized. As for the dual-SIM rumors, they believe that in some countries and regions, the 6.1-inch, as well as 6.5-inch iPhone, will use Dual-SIM card tray designs.

Macworld analyzed the performance of this year's new iPhone, based on TSMC's new 7-nanometer process technology. Since last year's iPhone X was equipped with a 10 nanometer A11 biomimetic chip, they conclude that A12's 7-nanometer chip logic density to be increased by 1.6 times, up to 20% of speed improvements, and 40% of power reduction.
