Apple Hopes To Include Major Newspapers' Content In Its Texture Magazine App, Report Says

According to a Recode report, Apple has been discussing with several major US newspapers like the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post to add its content to the company's Texture magazine app, which it acquired back in March this year.

Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of Internet software and services, and several Apple executives urged them to join the Texture subscription service as soon as possible. The non-paid subscribers can only read a limited number of articles, as these publication giants require people to have the subscription fee. For example, the Washington Post charges $10 per month, while the Wall Street Journal is $37/month.

The report explains that it is unclear whether Apple wants to add the contents of the above newspaper to the unified $9.99 Texture service or provide it as an additional add-on, nor if they are interested in it. And if these newspapers' contents included in a $9.99 services, which means they won't make as much as they should.

There have been rumors hints that Apple hopes to create a "family bundle" subscription service that will provide e-magazines news, Apple Music, and original episode content. Presently, it appears that adding newspapers' contents to Texture may be the first baby step.
