As iPhone XS And XR Sees Slower Sales, Analyst Predicts Next Year To Be Even Worse

Following reports of iPhone XS and XR faces lower-than-expected sales, Nomura analyst Anne Lee said in a report today that the iPhone sales will continue to decline next year. She said that the look of the 2019 iPhones will not be changed, and the size is the same as this year's iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, but will add more AR features. (Via Barron)

Furthermore, Lee predicts that 2019 will be the last year that Apple will use the iPhone X design language, the company will redesign the iPhone for new technologies such as 5G and AR, but the new iPhone will not debut until 2020. Anne Lee forecast that iPhone sales will reach 204 million in FY 2019 and fall to only 200 million units in the following year.
“We think the three new iPhones in 2H19F will likely have the same form factors (body size and displays) as the 2H18 iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max, with some added AR [augmented reality]-related features,” she wrote in a research report published Friday.
Meanwhile, Mixpanel data suggests that 2018 iPhone adoption is much slower compared to previous versions. However, the iPhone XR still outsold by iPhone XS and XS Max. Older iPhone models such as the iPhone X and iPhone 8 also saw a steady increase, with iPhone X has a adoption of 11.84%, as iPhone XS Max has 2.91%.
