Apple Music Gets A Price Cut In India, Now For Only $1.43/Month

It's quite unusual to see Apple undergo a price cut of their products and services. However, they have just reduced its Apple Music subscription price in India following its rivals Spotify and YouTube Premium came to this country for the first time, so now user can subscribe to this service for just Rs 99, or equivalent to $1.43 per month, in contrast, Apple Music cost $1.49 per month in China. With a population of over 1.3 billion, India is the second most populous country in the world and is expected to take over China by 2024, plus the relatively cheap mobile data rates and the mobile-first market position, it's not surprising that Apple had chosen this market for whatever it costs. For the sake of comparison, Spotify Premium India is priced at Rs 119, while YouTube Premium for Rs 129.
Close to four years after it was launched in India, Apple Music has revised its subscription rates in India and made it cheaper to access its large collection from across the world. The new pricing offers the service as a monthly subscription of Rs 99 ($1.43) for individuals and Rs 149 ($2.15) for families. Students now get to stream music as just Rs 49 (71 cents) a month.
Elsewhere, in some countries, Apple Music does offer a somewhat competitive rate. For instance, Brazilians will only have to pay $4.99 for the service, Hong Kong users can get the service for as low as $7.39 per month.
