Voice Tech Report: 'SiriOS' Predicted For WWDC In 2020

Mangrove Capital Partners predicted in this week's Voice Tech Report for 2019 that Apple will release SiriOS at WWDC 2020 to further expand the Siri ecosystem. Voice Tech Report is an annual report that primarily focuses on the growth and popularity of a variety of voice assistants.

Apple has been less effective at building an ecosystem around voice. With its vision of the ‘Knowledge Navigator’, Apple’s voice strategy was more clearly articulated in 1987 than it is now. The voice community expects Apple to release a SiriOS for its developer community at WWDC 2020 which would accelerate innovation and adoption.
It's currently uncertain exactly what SiriOS is, but theoretically, it seems to be open up Siri, enabling developers and different apps to unlock Siri's complete potential. Beyond Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, SiriOS may become the secret weapon of Apple. Apple recently purchased the privacy-oriented Silk Labs AI startup, which again demonstrates Apple's future direction for its AI and voice assistants, while protecting user privacy must be all the premises.

SiriOS will compete with the Amazon Skills platform, and the Skills platform is designed to make it easy for developers to expand Alexa features. Apple currently only offers developers with SiriKit, and SiriOS will be able to promote iOS, iPadOS, and macOS in the future.
