Latest On Apple TV+: New Comedy Series, "Little America" Trailer, Content Deals

Apple TV+, a new video streaming service from the Cupertino company is certainly expanding faster than we all realized. In this week along, Apple announced a new comedy series “Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet” to premiere February 7, released a new trailer for an upcoming series "Little America," and it's now being reported to explore deals for MGM Holdings content and college sports rights.


New Comedy Series “Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet”:


According to Apple, “Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet” follows a team of video game developers as they navigate the challenges of running a popular video game. In addition to McElhenney, who stars as the fictional company's creative director, Ian Grimm, the ensemble cast also includes Academy Award-winner F. Murray Abraham, Danny Pudi, Imani Hakim, Charlotte Nicdao, David Hornsby, Ashly Burch and Jessie Ennis.

The series will debut internationally on Friday 7 February exclusively on Apple TV+. All nine half-hour episodes of the live-action comedy, co-created by McElhenney and Megan Ganz, will be available on Apple TV+ on the day of the premiere. The series is produced by Lionsgate, 3 Arts Entertainment and Ubisoft.

The "Little America" Trailer 


Apple has shared a new trailer for the show "Little America", which will feature eight half hour episodes. Inspired by the true stories featured in Epic Magazine, each episode focus on a different story, from a 12-year-old who has to run a Utah motel on his own after his parents are deported back to India to a Nigerian grad student who becomes a cowboy.

"Little America" is written and executive produced by Lee Eisenberg, who serves as showrunner, and executive produced by Kumail Nanjiani, Emily V. Gordon, Alan Yang, Sian Heder, Joshuah Bearman, Joshua Davis and Arthur Spector. "Little America" has already been renewed for a second season.

New deal now undergo for MGM Holdings content and college sports rights.


The Wall Street Journal noting that Apple executives met with MGM and Pac-12 leaders to hold preliminary talks for a content catalogue. A deal with Pac-12 is said to provide the first live sports content to Apple, allowing the company to compete better with other streaming video services. In the meantime, MGM has a broad library of content, although it is not clear if the contract would focus on new original content or include existing content.

Apple's talk with MGM and Pac-12 suggests that Apple is open to major content deals to boost its Apple TV + service, which means third-party content could be added to Apple TV + in the future along with the original content from the company itself.
