New Year’s Eve is here again and we are only a few hours away from 2020. Many Apple Watch wearers are wondering if their Apple Watch has a special feature for this special day and yes, there is a hidden New Years' gem in watchOS. Every time the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve and the new year is here, the Apple Watch’s face lights up with fireworks, which the animation is repeatable through a notification on New Year’s Day. Apple has been adding birthday and New Year animations since New Year’s Eve 2018-19, and this company will do the same thing for every Apple Watch wearer in the world.

Since watchOS 4, Apple Watch wearers celebrated the new year with a fireworks display on the screen. The feature is available for all Apple Watch models and it is a feature that you can only get once a year. To get this feature, update your Apple Watch to the latest version of watchOS, strap your watch on and wait until midnight. Your Apple Watch will let you know when 2020 rings in.

If you want to play the fireworks animation again, open Notification Center on your watch face by swiping down from the top and tap on the fireworks notification. This notification won’t disappear until after New Year’s Day in January.
