Strategy Analytics: Apple Leads The Growing Totally Wireless Headset Market

A fresh research report from market research firm Strategy Analytics shows that in the Totally wireless Headset market, various manufacturers are beginning a new round of slaughter, and Apple is currently the leader among them. In 2019, Apple shipped approximately 60 million AirPods, accounting for 71% of the revenue from the sector.

Totally Wireless Headset (TWS for short) refers to the category where the headset itself and the smartphone are wirelessly connected via Bluetooth, and there is no cable between the two. Apple is not the originator of this product form, but they used AirPods to cause totally wireless headphones popular in the market.

At the end of last year, Bloomberg had predicted that AirPods shipments in 2019 would double from the previous year. Now, this latest report from Strategy Analytics reflects the forecast. The shipment of 60 million AirPods accounts for 50% of the total market shipments, not mentioning its revenue accounts for 71% of the entire market.

The ratio of this data is a bit like other Apple products. The proportion of shipments is not necessarily the largest, but because of the higher unit price, its revenue accounted for more. What's more terrifying is that Strategy Analytics believes that even if other manufacturers enter the field of TWS, Apple will still be the leading manufacturer in this field in the next 5 years.

Strategy Analytics predicts that the growth of the AirPods and Totally Wireless Headset markets will continue. By 2024, revenue will exceed $10 billion. The single-quarter revenue of AirPods has already reached 4 billion USD, which is comparable to the peak period of 2007 iPod sales.
