Apple Expects 'Many More' Retail Stores To Be Reopened In May

Apple's retail head Deidre O'Brien has told Apple employees that "many more" Apple Stores are set to start reopening in May, according to Bloomberg. Apple closed all of its retail locations outside of the Greater China region back in March due to the spread of the COVID-19 disease.

In a video update, O'Brien said that the company is still monitoring his health situation in every location and that many more stores would be opened to customers in May, though she didn't specify the regions where the stores would reopen first. "We are continuing to analyze this health situation in every location, and I do expect we will reopen up many more stores in May," said the VP of retail and people.

While many countries still have strict stay-at-home orders in place, in some parts of the United States, for example, Texas and Georgia, business reopening will be possible starting Friday. Other states such as New York and California, meanwhile, are extending the lockdown until further notice.

Throughout the closures, the company will continue to pay full pay to its employees and give unlimited sick leave to workers with any symptoms of coronavirus.
