Apple Working W/ Suppliers To Design And Produce 1 Million Face Shields Each Week

Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a tweet on Sunday that the company is working with suppliers to design and produce 1 million face masks every week.

Apple is dedicated to supporting the worldwide response to COVID-19. We’ve now sourced over 20M masks through our supply chain. Our design, engineering, operations and packaging teams are also working with suppliers to design, produce and ship face shields for medical workers.
Cook said that the face shields produced by Apple packs 100 per a box, and can be assembled in only two minutes.

Medical staff across the United States are facing a shortage of personal protective equipment, including face masks and face shields. It would lead them to face much higher risks when treating patients. Cook also said that the company has donated 20 million N95 masks to organizations in need.

Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, Apple employees across the global are currently working at home, and retail stores outside the Greater China region have been closed indefinitely.

The number of worldwide cases of COVID-19 continues to rise, with 1,331,032 confirmed cases and 73,917 deaths. However, two good news are that 275,851 people have been discharged from hospitals and that countries are reporting a decline in death tolls.
