Tom Hanks' WWII film "Greyhound" is now officially available for streaming on Apple TV+.
The film, written by Hanks, focuses on an officer named George Krause, who commands Navy destroyer Greyhound during the Battle of the Atlantic. The film portrays Krause battles with his own self-doubts and personal demons, along with the enemy, to prove that he is in charge.
Greyhound was initially slated for release in the movie theaters on Father's Day weekend, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, Sony Pictures has opened up bids to premier the firm on digital storefronts.
There was a bidding war with multiple streaming services for airing rights, but Apple ultimately secured it, with the company is calculated to have spent approximately $70 million to air the film exclusively on Apple TV+.
Apple TV+ has also debut first four episodes of "Little Voice," a coming of age drama created by J.J. Abrams, Sara Bareilles, and Jessie Nelson, and uses original music by Bareilles. There is also a short-form sports docuseries "Greatness Code" available to stream through the TV app on the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, Mac, select Samsung and LG smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku devices, as well as online at tv.apple.com.
