Images of iPhone 12 Chassis And Case Suggesting AirPower May Launch This Fall

After a controversial cancelation of the AirPower project, it is widely speculated that Apple will revive the wireless charger project this year. Well, there is the Weibo-originating image shared on the Chinese social media platform Weibo indicating that the iPhone 12's chassis includes a circular array of magnets, likely for charging (AirPower?) or mounting.

Additionally, the wireless charging case that matches the iPhone 12 has also been leaked, with the wireless charging module also seems to adopt the same design for perfect alignment with Apple's wireless charger, according to EverythingApplePro, who shared the image of the case on Twitter.

If real, this would mean that Apple will launch AirPower alongside its iPhone 12 lineup.

When Apple announced the AirPower wireless charging pad a few years ago, one of its main features was to support charging anywhere on the mat without the need for the device to be aligned with the coils. In fact, Apple Watch uses a magnetic charging design, as soon as the back of Apple Watch is placed on a magnetic charging base, the charger's magnet will align the Apple Watch and start charging.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously hinted the possibility of Apple to release a small wireless charging mat in the first half of the year, however, we know it didn't happen, because no such product has been announced.

The iPhone 12 lineup, which will be released in this fall, will include 4 models, with all of them are expected to support 5G and new AR capabilities, we have also heard that those smartphones will be using a new metal middle frame design, similar to the layout of iPhone 4s.
