9 Years Ago Today, Steve Jobs Passed Away At The Age Of 56

Today is the ninth anniversary of the death of former Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs. 9 years ago today, Jobs passed away of pancreatic cancer at the age of 56. Prior to this day, Apple executives debuted the iPhone 4s at a media event at the company's Infinite Loop headquarters campus.


Today, Apple CEO Tim Cook posted on Twitter to commemorate his mentor and friend.

Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, and died on October 5, 2011. He is an inventor, co-founder of Apple, the chairman and majority shareholder of Pixar, a member of The Walt Disney Company's board of directors following its acquisition of Pixar, as well as the founder and CEO of NeXT. 

Along with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Jobs is widely considered as the pioneer of the personal computer revolution in the 1970s and 1980s.
