iFixit Teardown: iPhone 12 And iPhone 12 Pro Internals Are Almost Identical

The all-new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro have just been launched, and iFixit already did a teardown and revealed the key components for the new iPhones and suppliers of those components.

iFixit's teardown showed that in addition to the A14 processor designed by Apple and manufactured by TSMC, Micron supplies LPDDR4 SDRAM; Samsung supplies NAND flash memory chips; Qualcomm provides 5G and LTE communications Transceiver.

Qualcomm also supplies 5G RF modules and RF chips; USI, a subsidiary of Taiwan ASE, supplies ultra-wideband (UWB) modules; Avago supplies power amplifiers and duplexer components; Apple designs and supplies Power Management chip.

Unsurprisingly, the devices look almost identical, apart from the camera module.

As for the battery, both iPhone 12 and iPhone12 Pro have the same battery design, the same 2,815mAh capacity, and can be interchanged.

Lastly, iFixit gives the ‌iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro a repairability score of 6 out of 10, citing that most important components are modular and easy to access or replace, but still fall short of expectation as the iPhones increased waterproofing measures that complicate some repairs.
