Siri Settings In iOS 14.5 Beta Includes Default Music App Option

Apple last week released the first beta version of iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 to developers and public beta users. Amongst many new features, Apple also added the option to set the default music streaming service when using Siri to play songs.

Reddit users discovered for the first time that when you first ask ‌Siri‌ to play a song in iOS 14.5 beta 1, in addition to Apple Music, you can also choose from a list of installed third-party music streaming apps.

Following selected the third-party music streaming app, whenever you ask Siri‌ to play a song, it will use this service by default. For example, if you select Spotify and you say "Hey, Siri, play Rise Up", you don't have to specify "Play on Spotify" to prevent it from trying to play this track on other services

From the picture above, if you ask ‌Siri‌ to play a song with another music streaming service for the first time, it will also set the service as the default setting.

Based on users who have experienced this feature, it currently only applies to specific phrases, and sometimes it reverts to ‌Apple Music‌.
