Apple Released iOS 11.2 With Apple Pay Cash, Faster Wireless Charging, 'I.T' Autocorrect Fix And More

Apple today released iOS 11.2 at a very strange time of day, on a Saturday, the second major update to the iOS 11 operating system available on the iOS devices. iOS 11.2 comes a month after iOS 11.1 was released, the update is available on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings - General - Software Update.


As a major 11.x update, iOS 11.2 brings several new features and major bug fixes. It introduces Apple Pay Cash, Apple's peer-to-peer payments service. The service works through the iMessage app and is designed to allow for quick person-to-person money transfers, like Square Cash or Venmo. Apple Pay allows you to send, request as well receive money from friends and family with Apple Pay.

For its newer smartphones - iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus, Apple in iOS 11.2 to support faster 7.5W wireless charging speeds through compatible Qi-based of wireless charging accessories. At 7.5W charging speeds, the three new iPhones are able to charge faster wirelessly than with the standard 5W wired iPhone power adapter.


Also on the iPhone X, iOS 11.2 adds a small bar underneath the icon at the top right of the lock screen to make the location of the Control Center clearer, allows iPhone X users to access the Control Center by swiping down from the top of the device. In all devices' CC, two new pop-up messages appear when the user uses a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth toggles.

iOS 11.2 introduces a new Sports section in the dedicated TV app. The TV app's new Sports section is designed to allow users to watch live sports games through integration with ESPN and more apps in the future to come through the TV app's Sports category.


There are quite a bit of bug fixes in the update, including a fix for an animation bug in the Calculator app that caused some numbers and symbols to be ignored when entered in the rapid succession. iOS 11.2 also addresses a date bug that caused continual crashing in iOS 11.1.2 after December 2. It as well as fixes 'I.T' Autocorrect Bug.

Other new features in iOS 11.2 include redesigned camera emojis and other emoji tweaks, a new loading animation for Live Photos effects, and Live wallpapers for the iPhone X. As for Message in iCloud and AirPlay 2, we expected that Apple will likely to introduce these features in iOS 11.3.
