Apple Releases Fifth Developer And Public Beta Of iOS 11.2.5 To iPhone And iPad

Apple today releases the fifth beta of an upcoming iOS 11.2.5 update to developers, two days after seeding the fourth beta. Developers who registered from Developer Center can download the iOS 11.2.5 beta over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed on your devices.

The iOS 11.2.5 update introduces a new feature that allows Siri to instantly stream a news podcast when asked about the news related questions. This new feature defaults to a daily news recap podcast by The Washington Post, users can also be switch to Fox News, NPR, or CNN shows upon request.

However, this new feature can only be invoked when you using Hey Siri or asking Siri about the news when using CarPlay or with headphones connected. And if you activate Siri using the side button or Home button of a device, standard Apple news headlines are provided instead of the audio-based news highlights.

As far as other changes, based on the version number, we don't expect any new features other than bug fix and security improvements. Whatever the software version number ends up being, this will possibly be the release that’s timed with the HomePod debut, possibly in late January or early February.
