Apple Releases Seven Beta Of iOS 11.2.5, As iOS 11 Now Installed On 65% Of Devices

Apple has released the seventh beta of an upcoming iOS 11.2.5 update to developers, two days after seeding the fourth beta. Developers who registered from Developer Center can download the iOS 11.2.5 beta over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed on your devices.


The iOS 11.2.5 update introduces a new feature that allows Siri to instantly stream a news podcast when asked about the news related questions. This new feature defaults to a daily news recap podcast by The Washington Post, users can also be switch to Fox News, NPR, or CNN shows upon request. The update also appears to fixed a bug that allowed a malicious link to freeze the Messages app on iOS devices.

Apple has also updated with the new statistics for iOS 11 on its App Store support page for developers, which shows that iOS 11 is now installed on 65 percent of iOS devices, only up six percentage points since December 5, as iOS 11 was installed on 59 percent of devices.


Ever Since iOS 11 was released, its adoption rate has been quite a bit slower than iOS 10 adoption rates in 2017. In January 2017, for example, iOS 10 was installed on 76 percent of iOS devices. Currently, 28 percent of devices continue to use iOS 10, while only seven percent of iOS devices countiue power by Eailer version.

The company also seeded watchOS 4.2.2 beta 5 and macOS 10.13.3 beta 6 to developers. The macOS update offers additional fixes for the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities that were discovered and publicized in early January and fixed initially in macOS High Sierra 10.13.2. As for watchOS 4.2.2, no major feature were found.
