Legrand today announced a wireless charging wall plate that's certified by the Qi standard, which is compatible with devices such as the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. Even though the charger has a LED light on the base to display the charging status of the smartphone. it is incompatible with the iPhone.
Based on the 3.1A and assuming at least 5V pass through, this should provide up to 15W of power. but iPhone 8/8 Plus and X top out at 7.5W. There's no doubt that the new type of wall plate provides homeowners with a convenient way to recharge iPhones or other Qi certified devices in the kitchen, bedroom or anywhere. One end of this cable is a Lightning connector and the other is a 3.5 mm audio output, so an iPhone without a headphone jack can be connected to the car speakers through the AUX port.
