Xiaomi’s Latest Mi 8 Smartphone Spots Several iPhone X-Style Designs, But With Much Cheaper Cost

Xiaomi announced its latest flagship smartphone today, Xiaomi 8. The phone spots several iPhone X-style designs, including the notch, vertical dual-lens camera system, and the system symbols sit either side of the notch. CEO Lei Jun said that since Xiaomi 8 wanted to use a lot of black technology, it could not help but using notch.



Xiaomi 8 adopts a 6.21 inch Samsung AMOLED screen, 18.7:9 screen, the screen ratio surpassed 86.68%. It comes with white, bright blue, champagne gold, black four colors.

Configuration wise, Xiaomi 8 uses the latest Snapdragon 845 chip. It packs a 20-megapixel front-facing camera, with the rear dual-lens that two 12-megapixel cameras. Mi 8 is also the world’s first dual-band GPS smartphone that can achieve ultra-precise location accuracy.

In addition, Xiaomi also unveiled Mi 8 Explorer Edition that equipped with the pressure-sensitive integrated fingerprint scanner and a semi-transparent rear chassis. It added Face ID function as well.



In terms of selling price, Xiaomi 8's 6GB+64GB version starting at ¥2,699; 6GB+128GB version is priced for ¥2,999; 6GB+256GB version costs ¥3,299, and the premium Explorer version sells for ¥3,699.
