WWDC 2018 Software Roundup: tvOS 12, macOS 10.14, And watchOS 5

Besides from announcing iOS 12, Apple has also announced tvOS 12, macOS 10.14, and watchOS 5 on the WWDC Keynote yesterday. We have rounded up features and changes in these latest platforms

Firstly, tvOS 12 brings support for Dolby Atmos, and iTunes will be home to the largest collection of Dolby Atmos-supported movies, and all purchased movies will be upgraded for free when the update release for everyone. It also introduces Zero Sign-on, you don’t need to sign in apps that offered by TV providers.



tvOS 12 also includes new aerial screensavers that were captured from the International Space Station, it’s now easier than ever to autofill passwords from the iPhone to signing into Apple TV apps, and it’s capable of support for Home Control systems like Crestron and Savant.

For macOS 10.14, it includes a new system-wide Dark Mode, improvements to Safari prevent from websites tracking when a user clicks on social share buttons, prevent from digital fingerprinting.



Apple also announced an entirely revamped Mac App Store that’s somewhat similar to the iOS 11 App Store design. It includes the new ‘Discover’ tab like the "Today" tab that can be found on the iOS App Store. The company also gave a sneak peek at the cross-platform app support.

Apple also announced watchOS 5. With watchOS 5, it includes new workout tracking mode, so that Apple Watch can sense when you are moving and prompt you to launch an exercise app. It will also remind you to end your exercise.


The Cupertino tech-giant also introduces a new way to communicate with other Apple Watch users--walkie-talkie, pretty much speaks for itself. Push a button, speak, wait for the voice of someone communicating back.

The Siri watch face, which makes its first appearance last year, has been updated with the support of sports, maps, and shortcuts to the new Siri actions. Apple has also eliminated the need to say "Hey Siri" before invoking a command.

Other features included in watchOS 5: notifications can be interactive, the ability to view certain webpages on the watch through new WebKit support, a new Podcasts app, able to play background audio, and an iOS 11-style customizable Control Center.
