Report: Apple's New 13-Inch MacBook Model Continues To Use Kaby Lake CPU Rather Than Coffee Lake

According to Taiwanese media Economic Daily News, the upcoming MacBook model is likely to be released late than the 2018 iPhones due to that Intel delayed the production of Coffie Lake processors, which means the upcoming MacBooks will continue uses Kaby Lake platform.

The report states that from the beginning, Apple's new MacBook model will be powered by Intel's 10nm process Cannon Lake processor. However, because Intel has not announced the mass production of the 10nm process, and has repeatedly delayed the process, so Apple has decided to use the 14nm++ Kaby Lake chips, so it delayed release date for 13-inch MacBook.


MacBook suppliers also revealed that Apple's new MacBook is affected by the Intel Coffee Lake processors delayed production. This would further affect the enthusiasm for supply chain partners, which is not a good thing for both sides.

This report also says that under the guidance of Apple, the supply chain is also fully coordinated, and the Hon Hai facility has entered the intensive production season in July, make sure the upcoming 2018 iPhones will be launched in time, which includes two OLED versions and one LCD model.
