2018 iPad Pro Models To Feature No Headphone Jack And Supports Only Vertical Face Unlock

According to MacOtakara, the upcoming release of the new iPad Pro later this year will bring a number of changes, including the removal of the headphone jack and Smart Connector move to the lower rear side, which would be fairly close to the lightning port.

The new 10.5-inch model is reported to measure from the existing 250.6 mm x 174.1 mm x 6.1 mm to 247.5 mm x 178.7 mm x 6 mm. While the 12.9-inch model will also be measured from the existing 305.7 mm x 220.6 mm x 6.9 mm to 280 mm x 215 mm x 6.4 mm. This means that the new models will be slimmer and lighter.

The report further states that this year's new iPad Pro may not come with the headphone jack. The new iPad Pros will bring the Face ID feature, but it is said that horizontal unlock is not supported, which means it will only work only when it is in a vertical orientation.

As a result, the location of the Smart Connector is awkward because it is designed on the side, so the iPad Pro can only be placed horizontally when connected to a dedicated keyboard. Therefore, the report said that Apple will adjust the Smart Connector position, moving from the side to the lower rear side, close to the lightning port.

What do you think? Would you buy an iPad Pro without the headphone jack?
