Apple Bring AirPlay 2 Support To The AirPort Express Models With Latest 7.8 Firmware Update

Apple has released updated 7.8 firmware for 2012 802.11n AirPort Express models, with the support of AirPlay 2. Though Apple said in April that they will longer update the AirPort wireless router lineup, but they promised to provide service and support in the next five years. To download the latest software update, go to AirPort Unity app on your iPhone.

With the latest update, AirPort Express will let you wireless stream music to a connected speaker over line-in. It will be also working with other AirPlay 2 devices like the HomePod, the Apple TV, and Sonos speakers When running iOS 11.4.1 or iOS 12.

Despite Apple has quit the wireless routing market in April this year, and the AirPort brand has completely faded away from history. However, Apple is still commendable for updating the firmware to support the latest technology for the AirPort Express devices in use.
