Apple Store Amsterdam Evacuated Due To An iPad Battery Explosion

Apple's retail store in Amsterdam has evacuated consumers in the Store and temporarily shut down due to the explosion of the iPad battery and the release of potentially harmful substances into the air, reports iCulture. At 3:00 pm, it was told the store has reopened.

Apple staff safely preserved the iPad after it exploded and pierced the battery in a sand container. Luckily, the accident didn't cause fire or smoke, and there were no major injuries. However, three employees with difficulty breathing were treated by emergency personnel.

Ever since Apple started the iPhone battery replacement program, we have seen several similar incidents in the past few months. Apple stores in Switzerland and Spain have evacuated due to overheating of iPhone batteries, fortunately, only a few employees of Apple suffered a minor burn.

We don't know how did it occur, and whether it caused by an official battery pack or a third-party replacement. Anyway, we recommend that don't try to replace a swollen battery on your iPhone or iPad. The best way to do this is to go to a local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider as soon as possible.
