Relay Hack co-founder and Apple collector Stephen Hackett shared his collection, screenshots of each version of Mac OS for the past 18 years. During the time, the naming of the operating system designed for Macs changed from Mac OSX to OS X to MacOS.

With more than 1,500 screenshots, you can see the system changes from Mac OS X Cheetah in 2000 to macOS High Sierra in 2017, and they were running on the real hardware, including Power Mac G4, Mac mini, and MacBook Pro. Stephen Hackett plans to continue to collect screenshots of each macOS in the future.

These images came from the OS, running on actual hardware; I didn’t use virtual machines at any point. I ran up to 10.2 on an original Power Mac G4, while a Mirror Drive Doors G4 took care of 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5. I used a 2010 Mac mini for Snow Leopard and Lion, then a couple different 15-inch Retina MacBook Pros to round out the rest.
