Apple Releases iOS 12.1.1 Beta 1 W/ FaceTime Live Photo, As The Adoption Rate Reaches 60%

Right after it released iOS 12.1, macOS 10.14.1, and tvOS 12.1 to the public, Apple just seeded its first beta of iOS 12.1.1, as they also released the first beta of macOS 10.14.2 and tvOS 11.2. To install these updates, you are required to get a proper developer profile, from there to install it via Software Update in the Settings app.


iOS 12.1.1 reintroduces the ability to take a Live Photo while on a FaceTime call, Apple also tweaked bottom bar that includes quick access buttons for muting a call and flipping the camera in the FaceTime app. Additionally, it fixes bugs and brings speed improvements.

Meanwhile, iOS 12's adoption continues climbing, in fact, Apple's App Store support page for developers shows that 63% of devices that introduced last four years are running iOS 12, whereas 60% of the all devices powered by the mobile operating system.

For iOS devices released in the past 4 years, the iOS 11 installation rate is 30%, and the earlier iOS versions' adoption rate remains 7%. Among all active iOS devices, the iOS 11 installation rate is at 29%, whereas 11% of the iOS devices running earlier versions such as iOS 10, iOS 9, etc. The rose of the iOS 12 adoption rate likely due to the launch of iPhone XR.
