Kuo: 2019 iPhones To Have Same IP68 Rated Water Resistance As This Year's iPhone XS And XS Max (Updated)

As 2018 iPhones already on sales, analysts have begun to turn their attention to the iPhone in 2019. Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a new research report on Monday that 2018 iPhones will have the same dust and water resistance rating as the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, while the iPhone XR still use the IP67 water resistance level.

In the report, Kuo points out that the dust resistance and water resistance level of the iPhone series will continue to be IP68 in 2019, without adding extra protection, but it will not be reduced. The report didn't provide additional info on the 2019 iPhones, reports the Taiwanese publication Economic Daily News.

Compared to the iPhone X in 2017, Apple has made some water resistance upgrades on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, including the improvements of dust and water resistance level, from last year's IP67 to this year's IP68, which means the iPhone XS can guarantee protection in water up to 1.5m deep for like 30 minutes.

We can also expect iPhones in 2019 will be capable of support 5G network, that's 20 times faster than the 4G. Reports also suggest these devices be featured with an A13 chip, better Face ID sensors, etc. They should launch in the fall of next year.

Update: The analyst from TF International, now says that the 2019 iPhone lineup will still adopt the same layout as this year's models, two OLED 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch versions, and a 6.1-inch LCD model. While he predicts that iPhone XR will see better-than-expected sales over two other high-end flagship smartphones from Apple.
