Digitimes: Expect AirPods 2 With Health Monitoring Feature In Early 2019

According to the Taiwanese media Digitimes, Apple will release the next-generation AirPods with "health monitoring" capabilities in the first half of 2019, the AirPods 2 will adopt a unique design and is expected to receive enthusiastic response from the market. However, the report didn't mention or cite any sources for the AirPods rumor, perhaps it was referring to a prediction made from Ming-Chi Kuo.

In terms of wireless headsets, Apple is set to release AirPods 2 sometime in the first half of 2019, and the new wireless earbuds with discrete designs to carry health monitoring functions are expected to receive enthusiastic market responses. Other brand vendors have all planned to launch wireless headsets in the year, with market competition seen to heat up soon.
In November last year, the new AirPods was added to the Bluetooth Special Interest Group's regulatory database, indicating that a new version of Apple's wireless headphone may be released soon. Although no new features were listed, AirPods in the database does support the Bluetooth 5.0 specification, while current AirPods support Bluetooth 4.0, and we expecting a wireless charging case for it coming soon.

Apple is also believed in the work for third-generation of AirPods, which is expected to be announced in 2020. The device will adopt a new design and may also improve waterproof performance. It's rumored that the third-generation AirPods will also include noise cancellation and increase the effective communication range with the iPhone or iPad.
