Apple has announced a partnership with the Fort Worth, Texas, based airline, American Airlines, to offer Apple Music subscribers access to their library in the air without paying additional fees. The service is available on flights equipped with Viasat satellite Wi-Fi, and available starting Friday. Here’s everything we know.

According to Apple, this is the first commercial airline to provide exclusive access to Apple Music through complimentary inflight Wi-Fi.

“With the addition of Apple Music on American flights, we are excited that customers can now enjoy their music in even more places. Subscribers can stream all their favorite songs and artists in the air, and continue to listen to their personal library offline, giving them everything they need to truly sit back, relax and enjoy their flight,” says Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music.

“Our customers want to make the most of their time when flying with us. That’s why we’re investing in high-speed Wi-Fi, the newest movies, live TV and now Apple Music,” said Janelle Anderson, Vice President of Global Marketing at American.

Domestic customers with an Apple Music subscription will be able to stream 50 million songs, playlists and music videos beginning Feb. 1, says the press release.

On any domestic American Airlines flight, connect to the complimentary inflight Wi-Fi and open Apple Music. No additional fees, no hassle.

Furthermore, the press release goes on to add that American Airlines customers who don’t already have an Apple Music subscription will be able to connect to Wi-Fi at no cost, sign up onboard and receive free access for three months.

American Airlines and Apple have curated “Destination playlists” and exclusive American Airlines “Boarding” and “Arriving” playlists. You can visit the Apple Music page here.

Apple Music is also available on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, Apple TV, PC, Android, Apple CarPlay, HomePod, Sonos and Amazon Echo. Subscriptions start at $9.99/month, $4.99/month for students, $14.99/month for families up to six accounts.
