Apple Canceled AirPower, Due To Its Inability To Meet The High Standards

In a statement provided to TechCrunch, Apple has officially announced that they have canceled the AirPower project, which means they won't release the wireless charging mat anymore. Dan Riccio, Apple's senior vice president of Hardware Engineering:
After much effort, we've concluded AirPower will not achieve our high standards and we have cancelled the project. We apologize to those customers who were looking forward to this launch. We continue to believe that the future is wireless and are committed to push the wireless experience forward.

AirPower was announced alongside iPhone X in September of 2017, it let you charge multiple devices at the same time, and Apple said it will launch the product sometime in 2018, and since then, we haven't heard anything back from the Cupertino firm regarding this accessory, even though a number of rumors suggested that Apple was working on it.

It's unclear what causes AirPower to be canceled, but a report from Chinese site Chongdiantou suggest that it continue faces heating issues, which Apple apparently couldn't solve such issue. Anyway, Apple currently sells Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Dock that offers similar experiences at Apple Stores.
