Apple Recalling Three-Prong AC Adapters Used In Hong Kong, Singapore, And The UK

In a press release today, Apple announced a voluntary program to recall its Three-Prong AC Adapter in which designed for use in Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. Apple noted that the recall doesn't affect any other Apple-branded USB power adapters.


Apple said in a statement that in very rare cases, specificity, only six incidents has been reported so far, the affected Apple three-prong wall plug adapters could break and create a risk of electrical shock if touched, that includes these wall plug adapters shipped with Mac and certain iOS devices between 2003 and 2010 and were also included in the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit.

It's recommended that users should stop using these wall plug adapters right away. To identify a Three-Prong AC Adapter, all you need to do is to check if the affected three-prong plug adapter is white, with no letters on the inside slot where it attaches to the main Apple power adapter.

Affected users are advised to visit this support page for details about how to exchange them for new adapters, and Apple will exchange them for free of charge.
