Canalys: iPhone's Europe Market Share Europe Plunged 17% In Q2 2019

According to market intelligence company Canalys, in the second quarter of this year, iPhone's share in the European market fell by 17% year-on-year, but Apple is still the third-largest smartphone maker in the continent, behind Samsung and Huawei, and ahead of Xiaomi and HMD Global.

In the second quarter of 2018, iPhone shipments in Europe were 7.7 million, whereas shipments in the second quarter of this year were only 6.4 million, thus, fhipments fell by 17%, and that Apple's market share has dropped from 17% to 14.1%. Apple's latest Q3 2019 earnings result suggests that for the first time since 2012, iPhone sales accounted less than half of the company's revenue.

On the other hand, Samsung's shipments rose from 15.3 million last year to 18.3 million, but most of the sales were not coming from flagship devices, but rather the mid-range A-series phones. Another brand that saw a steady increase was Xiaomi, whose shipments have increased significantly, reaching 4.3 million.

As expected, Huawei's shipments took big hit in the second quarter as a result of the ongoing trade war between China and US, with the shipments fall 18% year-on-year, but still remained its second spot.
