iOS 13 Adoption Rate Surpasses 20%; Apple Released iOS 12.4.2 For Older Devices

Apple on September 19th pushed the iOS 13 official update, just a week away, the iOS 13 installation rate has already surpassed 20%, according to data from Mixpanel.

Compared with iOS 12 released last year, the adoption rate of iOS 13 is a tiny bit faster, where iOS 12 saw an adoption of 19.4% a week after its release, on the other hand, iOS 11 was already installed on 25.28 percent of iOS devices over the same seven-day period, nevertheless, it's worth to note iPad users didn't have chance to update to iPadOS 13 until this Tuesday, so that number should have been higher.

Last month, Apple’s App Store data showed that 88% of iOS active users updated to iOS 12.

iOS 13 is a groundbreaking update that introduces highly-anticipated Dark Mode, more editing tools for the Photos and Videos app, Find My app, Maps ' Look Around feature, Apple Sign In, Revamped Reminders app, Voice Control, along with significant performance improvements, time-sync lyrics in Apple Music, a less obtrusive volume indicator, and much more.

Apple has released iOS 12.4.2 update to older devices including the original iPad Air, the iPad mini 2, the iPad mini 3, the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and sixth-generation iPod touch. They also pushed a second supplemental update for macOS Mojave 10.14.6. Apple says these updates addressed a vulnerability that could allow a remote attacker to case unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution.
