iOS 13.2 And tvOS 13.2 Now Available; AirTag And Smart Battery Cases Confirmed

Apple today released iOS 13.2 and iPadOS 13.2, the second major update of the iOS 13 operating system, the update followed the iOS 13.1.3 build that's released 2 weeks ago. Users can download the update via the Settings app, then General -> Software Update. While tvOS 13.2 and an new HomePod software were also available for download.


iOS 13.2 turned on the Deep Fusion feature for iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, a new image processing system that relies on the A13 bionic neural engine. Deep Fusion utilizes advanced machine learning techniques to pixel-by-pixel image processing to optimize texture, detail, and noise reduction for each part of the photo.

In addition, 59 new emoji characters that are based on approved characters in Unicode 12.0 were also included in iOS 13.2, including guide dogs, ears with hearing aids, wheelchairs, and symbols for prosthetic arms and legs. Other new emojis are; yawning faces, one-piece swimsuits, foods including waffles, Falafel fried beans, butter and garlic, and new animals such as sloths, flamingos, orangutans, and skunks.

Aside from new emojis, Apple also introduced the Siri Privacy setting called Delete Siri History that lets you delete Siri and Dictation history.

The update also added features that previously missed in the iOS 13.0 update like Announce Message with Siri and HomePod Handoff. You can now also uninstall an app by just Haptic Touch the app icon, and then select "Delete", and there is a new option to change video recording resolution and frame rate right from the Camera app on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro series.

iOS 13.2 seems to have also confirmed the name of their rumored Title-like competitor: "AirTag". A folder labeled AirTag appears in the iOS 13.2 file system along with a "BatterySwap" video asset that specifies the user how to swap the AirTag battery. AirTag must be used with the Find My app to locate missing items. AirTag can also be connected to your iPhone, iPad, Mac and other devices via Bluetooth.

Not just AirTag, iOS 13.2 also confirmed that Apple is in the work for a Smart Battery Case for iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, and it would probably come out before the end of the year, in time for the Christmas shopping season.

As for tvOS 13.2, no major changes or features were found within the update, so it's most likely to bring bug fixes and performance improvements.

But, the new HomePod software received a number of changes, including the ability for ‌HomePod‌ to recognize the voices of different family members to provide a personalized experience, Handoff music, podcasts, or phone calls by bringing your iPhone close to ‌HomePod‌, add music to your ‌HomeKit‌ scenes, play relaxing high-quality soundtracks with Ambient Sounds, Set sleep timers to fall asleep to music or Ambient Sounds.
