The report states that Apple's iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will adopt Samsung's latest Y-OCTA technology, which allows the touchscreen circuit to be built directly on the OLED panel without adding a separate layer to make the display thinner and accomplish the goal of reducing production costs.
Whether this technology that can make the screen thinner will also make the iPhone skinnier next year is unknown, but it should be noted that the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are probably slightly thicker and heavier than the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max due to the expanded battery capacity by Apple.
Now that Samsung will provide Apple with Y-OCTA displays for 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch iPhones, while the 6.1-inch models will continue to use LCD screens provided by Samsung and LG, although Chinese display manufacturer BOE may not be the display supplier in 2020.
Furthermore, several other reports have confirmed that the iPhone will support 5G in 2020. The company is also said to redesign the 2020 iPhone antenna lines. The antenna lines would be wider (> 1mm) and will use other materials (glass, ceramic or sapphire) instead of plastic.
Finally, it's anticipated that the new iPhones to launch features the A14 5nm processor manufactured by TSMC, a redesigned metal frame similar to the iPhone 4, as well as rear-facing 3D sensing, and a larger 6GB of RAM.
