Yesterday, Apple held a small media event in New York and announced the best App Store apps and games of the year, including iPhone app/game of the year, iPad app/game of the year, as well as Mac app/game of the year, and Apple TV app/game of the year. In addition, the company also released charts for the most downloaded apps and most downloaded games of the year, based on worldwide downloads


Apple's selection of the best App Store apps and games of the year:
  • iPhone App of the Year: Spectre Camera (Lux Optics)
  • iPad App of the Year: Flow by Moleskine (Moleskine)
  • Apple TV App of the Year: The Explorers (The Explorers Network)
  • App Trend of 2019: Storytelling Simplified
  • iPhone Game of the Year: “Sky: Children of the Light” (thatgamecompany)
  • iPad Game of the Year: “Hyper Light Drifter” (Abylight S.L.)
